Moorside Brewery is a small, family-run brewery located on what was H.M. Factory Eatsriggs, the largest ammunition factory in the world during WWI.
Moorside was the codename penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle for H.M. Factory Gretna; today Moorside Farm is where we live and brew our beers.

Devil’s Porridge is the name given to the explosive cordite, which was produced during WWI at H.M. Factory Gretna, now home to the Moorside Brewery. The largest ammunition factory in the world, staffed by 30,000 workers – over a third of whom were women. Contributing significantly to both Britain winning the war and women being given the vote.
